North Dakota Beer was published by The History Press as part of the American Palate series. This series includes books like New York City Coffee: A Caffeinated History, Classic Restaurants of Oklahoma City, Michigan Apples: History and Tradition, and Hudson Valley Wine.
This book chronicles the history of North Dakota’s beer industry, which suffered a setback when it entered the Union as a dry state in 1889. Locals resorted to brewing at home in secret and smuggling beer across state lines. It wasn’t until the end of Prohibition that North Dakota farmers became the nation’s leading producers of malted barley.
Copies of North Dakota Beer are available at Zandbroz.
